Give a name to your inanimate, prized possession.  Whether it is your car with all the great memories, a guitar that shows the wear of endless jam sessions, that special baseball bat that helped you win the big game or whatever else it may be.  Give it a name and make sure your best friends know its name too.

Never leave your bike in the drive way.  Also, when you have kids of your own, always make sure the drive way is clear of your kids toys before backing up.  (Sorry for backing over your bike with the truck son.  Don't worry, I will fix it.  Love Dad)

As you grow up and become more independent you will want to do things on your own.  Sometimes I will give you advice because sometimes, I really do know best.  No sense in repeating my mistakes, son, but you certainly can learn from them. -- Dad

Don't use credit cards, use debit cards.  They do the same thing as credit cards and you don't have to worry about the debt because you're only spending the money you already have.
